Day 6

January 10, 2011

I am thankful for...snow days!

We got about 3 inches of snow last night with about a quarter of an inch of ice on top of that.   Snow, any amount, is a big deal around here!  Schools were closed, so we enjoyed a day at home, complete with pancakes, playing in the snow, sledding, drinking hot chocolate, more playing in the snow, eating homemade chili, playing in the snow, sitting by the fire, eating chocolate cake...well, you get the picture.  We ate, we played, we ate, we played.  Snow days are great because they force you to slow down, stay home and enjoy time together with your family.  I loved watching the kids' excitement and joy as they tromped around through the snowy woods, slid down our ice covered slide and sledded down the big hill behind our house.  Elizabeth had a blast eating the snow.  Every time we went out, she would grab a hunk of snow/ice and start nibbling.
